Peony Lemon Chiffon
D.L. Reath 1981. Michigan. A semi-double hybrid that will become a double over time. Reath crossed Salmon Dream and his cross Cream Delight X Moonrise. This lemon yellow peony is 32-34″ tall, has strong, dark green stems and the blooms fade to light yellow over time. It makes an excellent cut flower for arrangements. I first saw a specimen at a home in Chittenden County, Vermont. I was overwhelmed by the number of blooms on what was described as a three-year-old plant. The blooms were smaller than I expected–still 4.5-5″— but they were so abundant I wanted a plant right away. For those thinking of collecting yellow peonies, add this one now.
