Miellez 1851. One of the very best old-fashioned double whites with a few red specks in the center. Mainly white, with great fragrance. Blooms early to mid-season. Thick stems, 28″ tall. A great cut flower. If you travel around Vermont in June and keep an eye out for old farms, farmhouses, and barns you will see rows of peonies that predominantly include Festiva Maxima accompanied by the large, pink-flowered Sarah Bernhardt. That’s Vermont, that’s New England!
