Fumio Maekawa 1937/AHS 1993. Large, thick, cupped, corrugated 12″ X 9″ (leaf length to width) leaves. Ash grey colored over dark blue-green above, and glaucous underneath. Upright, vase shaped habit. Scapes 5-7 feet tall with pale lavender flowers. Scape height is obvious in progeny seedling, Krossa Regal. One of it’s seedlings is Garnet Prince which we grow and sell. Nigrescens grows best in shade. In our display garden, you’ll find it by a box elder tree.
