Mary Chastain ’98. This is a very dark, shiny, wavy,  hosta with dark purple flowers. As it clumps up the color really stands out.  A good grower that contrasts so well with companions in the shade garden. Try penstemons, Japanese painted ferns or astilbes. It’s an award winner, too!. Won the Pauline Banyai Award in 1998, Best of Show at the 2000 AHS Convention, the Dick Van Fleet Award,  and The President’s Award.
