Hosta Knockout

Paul Aden 1986. Origin unknown. Medium sized, deep blue-green leaf with wide, yellow-cream, wavy margins. Heavy substance. Lavender flowers. Shade to 50% sunshine. But here’s the problem. This is one of the first hostas I purchased while Vermont Flower Farm was “growing” on Bay Road in Shelburne, Vermont. Sometime after we moved to Marshfield we found this background information on the hostalibrary.org link. We are quoting the comment. Thoughts? Experiences? “Knockout is an Aden registration of a plant he acquired from either Kevin Vaughn or Florence Shaw. The plant he registered was white-centered, but the plant in the trade is white-margined …and does not appear to be a sport of the originally registered plant. As far as we’ve been able to ascertain, the original plant was lost, and no one has mentioned ever seeing it. The most likely explanation is that after losing the original plant, Aden just named another one Knockout rather than give up the name.” As a result of the confusion we have this plant on display in our garden (picture included here)  but do not offer it for sale.
