The more sunshine, the lighter the center gets even reaching almost paperwhite in full sun. Hostas are sized at the time of registration by the size of the leaf. As example, Gold Standard is a medium hosta. The part that complicates this is that some hostas grow faster than others. Gold Standard really grows so in three years and the perfect setting a gallon pot may grow to a 5 foot wide clump. Some would say that an extra large hosta but by the American Hosta Society, it’s still a medium (leaf size) hosta.
