Hosta Dream Queen

Hugo Phillips’s website Myhostasdatabase, in conjunction with its posting on the hostalibrary.org listing for Dream Queen, describes it as originating from Jan van den Top/AHS/G. Alley 2020. It’s registered as a Great Expectations sport but the appearance is close to Thunderbolt and Dream Weaver. It will grow to be two feet high and twice that wide with 32″ tall scapes. The thick leaves have a wide green border with a yellow-cream center.  I honestly think if I’m asked to separate Dream Queen, Dream Weaver and Thunderbolt it becomes a formidable task unless the three are mature examples. Our hosta display garden has Thunderbolt growing on the top row in front of the fence and just to the right of the granite bench.  Examples of Dream Weaver are in front of the two giant willows at the next plateau down. Check them out and you’ll see what I am suggesting. Pots of small Dream Queen available at the farm.
