Daylily Ruby Spider

Stamile 1991. 34″-36″ tall, strong, thick scapes. 9″ blooms, ruby red spider with yellow throat. Dormant. Tetraploid. Unusual Form Spatulate. Begins early and blooms into late August. Winner of  five awards from the American Hemerocallis Society. This is an incredible daylily, highly coveted by gardeners and one we have sold hundreds and hundreds of over the years. We have a propagation row in the lower field by the hosta display garden. When in bloom you can spot the row from the top of the hill. It’s a vigorous grower so needs a strong digger when digging and dividing as the roots are large and hold tight. Our only recommendation is not to plant it close to a walkway, house/building entrance or any place where someone might brush by a plant. As blooms begin to pass, they exude a black ink that is sure to stain clothes and bodies. This is one of those daylilies where you are certain to be asked “Where’d you get that? I want one!”
