Daylily Susan Elizabeth $21

Barth 1982. 32″-36″ tall, thick scapes. 7.5″ blooms, deep, greenish-yellow polychrome with small green throat. Dormant. Tetraploid. Early to Mid-Season bloomer. If you pass Vermont Flower Farm on Route 2 you will see how we have planted what have become huge clumps of Susan Elizabeth around the outside edges of the daylily display garden. The color from a distance is like someone turning on lights in the garden. We have been promoting Barth daylilies for several years as the New England hardy daylily that deserves a place in every garden. If you visit and have some time, walk the propagation field down by the hosta display garden and see 40 varieties hybridized by the Barth family. In recent years, Jeff O’Donal from O’Donals in Gorham, Maine and recently from McSherry’s in Fryeburg Maine has been working with Nick Barth on daylily crosses.
