Daylily Sandra Jean

Barth 1985. Scape height 26″. 6″ blooms, described in the AHS registration as “Glowing apricot self”. Dormant. Tetraploid. The hybridizing influence of one of the parents, Ruffled Apricot, is obvious. Gail and Alex bought me 25 Barth daylilies as a present after I had begun to admire them. They arrived one September and by the following season, Sandra Jean had grown so well and had produced so many scapes with abundant blooms that there were many requests for it even though I had it growing unmarked in the lower propagation field. This past season was a repeat of requests beyond supply. Part of the interest is gardeners can see how useful this size plant in the color apricot can be as a companion flower within existing gardens.
