Griesbach-Klehm 1979. Another of the bird series by these two hybridizers. 34″ tall scapes. 5.5″ red blooms with yellow throat. Dormant. Tetraploid. Mid-season bloomer. Contrasts well with the brilliant, clear orange daylilies that bloom mid-season too. Today as I update our website, downy woodpeckers, hairy woodpeckers, and a single pileated woodpecker, currently thought to be the biggest woodpecker left in North America,  are all on our suet cages outside my office window.
