John Machen, Jr. 2000. A very large ‘Sagae’ sport. Very similar to Ivory Coast, Majesty, and Clifford’s Forest Fire, also sports of Sagae, that were registered within the first 6 months of the Sagae registration. A 36″-39″ upright plant, with blue-green leaf centers surrounded by +2.5″ golden yellow to white margins. 32″-36″ tall scapes with lavender flowers. Hosta of the Year in 2012. We have Liberty, Majesty and also Ivory Coast planted in different areas of our display garden. We do not grow Clifford’s Forest Fire. The idiosyncrasies between the 4 hostas are so marginal that it’s truly an “eye of the beholder” event. We always try to have a good supply of Liberty available which is our personal favorite and we are not planning on continuing to offer the other sports.
